Biography

Guido Bolognesi graduated in Mechanical Engineering from La Sapienza University of Rome and carried out an international joint PhD in Theoretical Applied Mechanics under the supervision of Professors R. Di Leonardo, C. M. Casciola, and L. Bocquet. His doctoral research focused on investigating micron-scale flows using optical trapping, digital holography, liquid flow slippage on superhydrophobic surfaces, and particle image velocimetry. Following his PhD, he joined the research group of Professor Oscar Ces at the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London, where he worked on optical manipulation and synthesis of functional droplets and microparticles. His research involved the development of optofluidic technologies for the construction of 2D/3D droplet and vesicle networks, mimicking artificial tissues. In 2016, he established his own research group at Loughborough University, where he held positions as Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Bioengineering. He is currently an Associate Professor in Physical Chemistry at University College London.
