Dr. Guido Bonsaver

Biography

Guido Bonsaver is a Professor of Italian Cultural History at Pembroke College, Oxford, with a notable background in modern Italian cultural studies. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Reading. His research focuses on censorship during the Fascist regime, the dynamics of contemporary Italian immigration, and the impact of American culture on Post-Unification Italy. His undergraduate courses cover 19th and contemporary Italian history and literature, while at the graduate level, he teaches Medieval Modern Languages and Film Aesthetics, supervising DPhil students in modern Italian cultural history. Bonsaver's significant contributions to the field are reflected in his publications, including several books and edited volumes on topics such as literature, censorship, and cultural exchanges between Italy and America. His research interests are further complemented by collaborations with BBC World News and various cultural publications, highlighting his role as a prominent voice in Italian studies and cultural criticism.
