Professor Dr. Guido Garavaglia

Biography

Professor Guido Garavaglia is an accredited surgeon specialized in shoulder and knee surgery. He holds a prominent position as Head of Research and Teaching at Clinica Ars Medica in Gravesano. In 2016, he was nominated as a Professor at the Geneva University Hospitals, where he leads the radiological registry known as the Geneva Hip Arthroplasty Registry, contributing to significant educational programs and assignments. In 2019, he became an Adjunct Professor at the University of Lugano (USI) within the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences. His research has extensively covered the influence of statin use on osteolysis progression in primary cemented total hip arthroplasties (THA) and the impact of smoking on the stem revision rate associated with aseptic loosening in primary elective THA. Garavaglia has also researched the outcomes of short stem total hip arthroplasty performed through a direct anterior approach, providing important follow-up data on stem fixation.
