Biography

Guido Olivieri is a Professor at the Butler School of Music, University of Texas at Austin, where he teaches music history and directs the UT Early Music Ensemble 'Austinato'. He is a notable musicologist with a focus on developments in string sonatas of the 18th century, investigating performance practice and musical patronage, and reconstructing the cultural relationships between Naples and other European capitals. He is currently the president of the Society for Eighteenth-Century Music and has worked on several critical editions, including Cimarosa's masterwork 'Il matrimonio segreto'. His esteemed career includes roles as a research fellow, visiting assistant professor, and participation in numerous CD projects that focus on rediscovered musicological research.
