Biography

Guilherme B. Xavier is a Senior Associate Professor and the Head of the Division at Linköping University. His primary research focus is on experimental quantum communications, with a specialization in quantum key distribution, propagation entanglement, and optical fibers associated with optoelectronic instrumentation. He obtained his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil in 2009, where he worked on automatic polarization stabilization in quantum communication systems related to optical fibers and quantum key distribution experiments. Following his doctorate, he was a post-doctoral researcher focusing on active phase stabilization in long optical fiber interferometers. In 2011, he joined the Electrical Engineering Department at the Universidad de Concepción in Chile as an Assistant Professor, where he established a laboratory for quantum communication, leading experiments with energy-time entangled photons. He collaborated with the Quantum Optics group to conduct experiments on high-dimensional spatial photonic quantum systems, contributing to the fields of quantum cryptography and quantum contextuality. In 2017, he joined the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Linköping University as a Senior Lecturer and initiated the Quantum Communications Laboratory, concentrating on next-generation telecommunication research involving optical fibers and spatial division multiplexing. He currently teaches courses on internetworking and computer security.
