Biography

After completing a bachelor's degree in chemistry at Laval University, Guillaume Bélanger-Chabot pursued a master's degree under the supervision of Frédéric-Georges Fontaine, where he focused on developing the combined chemistry of bora- and borata-benzenes and phospholes. He later completed his doctorate at the University of Southern California under Karl Christe, synthesizing high-energy materials based on boron compounds and small molecules. In 2015, he undertook a postdoctoral fellowship in François Gabbaï's group at Texas A&M, exploring the mechanisms of fluorine-mediated reduction of naphthalene diimides and advancing the coordination chemistry of perfluorinated aryl antimony compounds. From 2016 to 2019, as an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow in Holger Braunschweig's group at the University of Würzburg, he worked on the development of boron compounds with polyazolate groups. Since December 2019, he has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Laval University.
