Biography

Guillaume Fréchette is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Geneva. His research focuses on the history of 19th and 20th-century philosophy. After completing his doctorate at the University of Hamburg, dedicated to the logic and philosophy of mind of Bernard Bolzano, Fréchette continued his studies in Austrian philosophical history, initially as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Quebec at Montreal. He later held the position of Lise-Meitner Senior Fellow at the University of Salzburg. Fréchette has been a scientific collaborator at UNIGE and served as the principal investigator for a project at the University of Salzburg. He was selected first in the philosophy section of the 2022 competition of the Science and Technology Foundation of Portugal. His projects at Geneva include research on the Austro-German origins of contemporary philosophy and a study on the crisis of philosophy during the 1930s, focusing on various philosophical movements. He has published several significant works on Brentano and his impact on contemporary thought.
