Biography

Guillaume Guitang is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Oxford's Faculty of Linguistics, Philology, and Phonetics, affiliated with the Fondation Wiener-Anspach. He completed his PhD at Université libre de Bruxelles in 2024, with a focus on morphosyntactic description of the Gizey language from the Northern branch of the Masa languages within the Afroasiatic phylum. His current project explores the interpretation of temporal particles and their contribution to temporal meaning in language. Furthermore, he investigates phenomena related to non-iconic doubling, including compensatory and analogical reduplication, signifying plurality and related meanings of intensity and emphasis. Guitang has published multiple research articles in reputable journals, contributing significantly to the understanding of the Gizey language and its grammatical structures.
