Biography

Guillaume Lettre is a professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the Université de Montréal. He was inducted into the Royal Society of Canada's College of New Researchers and Creators in Arts and Science in 2019. Guillaume completed his bachelor's degree in biology, with a focus on biotechnology, at the Université de Sherbrooke in 2000. He then earned a master's degree in biological sciences from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in 2001, followed by a PhD in developmental genetics at the University of Zurich in 2005. He underwent postdoctoral training at Boston Children's Hospital and the Broad Institute under the mentorship of Dr. Joel N. Hirschhorn. He joined the research center of the Montreal Heart Institute and the Faculty of Medicine at the Université de Montréal in January 2009. His research interests include the genetic variation that predisposes individuals to develop cardiovascular and hematological diseases, and the modulation of disease severity by genetic factors. Guillaume's lab employs modern genomic approaches, including genome-wide association studies and next-generation DNA re-sequencing, to identify genetic risk factors associated with these diseases.
