Biography

Guillaume Obozinski is the Deputy Executive Director and Chief Data Scientist at the Swiss Data Science Center. He graduated with a PhD in Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley in 2009. His postdoctoral research was conducted in 2012 at INRIA and Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris, where he was involved in the Willow Sierra teams. In 2018, he joined the Research Faculty at Ecole des Ponts ParisTech. His research interests primarily lie in the areas of statistics and machine learning, with a focus on sparse modeling, optimization in large scale learning, graphical models, and relational learning. He also investigates semantic embeddings and their applications in diverse domains such as computational biology and computer vision. Additionally, he is actively involved in teaching and supervises PhD candidates at EPFL.
