Biography

Guizhi (Julian) Zhu is an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Science at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Nankai University in China and went on to earn his PhD from the University of Florida, followed by postdoctoral training at the National Institutes of Health. His research focuses on the interface of immunology, nucleic acid engineering, and functional biomaterials. He is particularly interested in developing novel circular RNA (circRNA) and mRNA-based immunotherapeutics as well as vaccines and delivery systems for cancer, infectious diseases, and autoimmune disorders. His work is supported by federal grants from organizations such as the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, and the American Cancer Society.
