Dr. Gül Özerol

Biography

Gül Özerol is an Associate Professor at the University of Twente, with a focus on policy science, particularly in peace, justice, and sustainability. She holds a PhD from the University of Twente and MSc degrees in Integrated Assessment from the University of Osnabrück, Germany, and Industrial Engineering from the Middle East Technical University, Turkey. With over 20 years of professional experience in the Middle East and Europe, her recognition spans water governance, climate adaptation, and energy transition through collaborative projects at local, national, and international levels. Her work emphasizes transdisciplinary knowledge co-production with governmental and non-governmental organizations, engaging with a range of stakeholders including local and regional authorities, ministries, and NGOs. Özerol has edited multiple journals and contributed to various interdisciplinary publications, contributing to water governance, climate change adaptation, and energy policy. She is involved in supervising PhD and postdoctoral researchers and has taught interdisciplinary programmes for over 15 years at her institution. She is currently the director of the MSc programme in Environmental Energy Management and has participated in managing collaborative projects across Europe, North America, and the Middle East.
