Dr. Gunilla Stenberg

Biography

Gunilla Stenberg is an Associate Professor at Umeå University, involved in both clinical employment and teaching within the Physiotherapy Program. With a strong foundation in educational and research qualifications, she holds the title of Docent and is recognized as a university teacher. Her research primarily focuses on rehabilitation and pain management, specifically in the context of long-term pain. Stenberg participates in national and regional research networks concerning long-term pain and serves as a member of the national working group for knowledge management in pain courses. Her expertise encompasses both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, including Qualitative Content Analysis, Grounded Theory, Narrative Analysis, and multivariate statistics. As a passionate educator, she teaches advanced courses related to her research areas, including pain management and gender perspectives. Stenberg's commitment to clinical practice is evident as she engages with students in primary care settings. Her academic journey began with a postdoctoral position in collaboration with Linköping University and culminated in defending her thesis as part of the national gender research school at Umeå University.
