Dr. Guogui Huang

Biography

Guogui Huang is an early-career researcher in the field of demography and population health. He obtained his PhD in Demography from Peking University, China in 2020 and pursued another PhD in Demography/Management at Macquarie University through a Cotutelle program. He graduated with honors, receiving the Outstanding Graduate Award from Peking University, akin to a University Medal. Dr. Huang has served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Macquarie University, specifically at the Centre for Health Systems Safety Research (CHSSR). He previously held a position as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Workforce Futures at the Macquarie University Business School from 2019 to 2021. His research interests focus on population ageing, socioeconomic consequences, wellbeing, older adults' care provision, and improving health quality for the elderly. He has published 34 academic journal articles, 28 of which he first authored, in renowned journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, SSM-Population Health, and BMC Geriatrics. Guogui has successfully secured over $1.5 million in research funding for his project aiming to optimize pharmacist-led medication reviews in residential aged care facilities. His recent work on the impact of COVID-19 mortality has gained significant media attention.
