Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Guoping Feng. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Guoping Feng is the James W. (1963) & Patricia T. Poitras Professor of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he also serves as the Associate Director of the McGovern Institute for Brain Research and as a member of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. His research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms that regulate neuron-to-neuron communication, which are critical for addressing brain defects associated with neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders. Using genetically engineered animal models, Dr. Feng’s lab employs cutting-edge technologies and multidisciplinary approaches to unravel the neurobiological mechanisms underlying conditions such as autism, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, and schizophrenia. He has received numerous awards, including the Beckman Young Investigator Award and the McKnight Neuroscience Brain Disorders Award, and is a member of prestigious organizations such as the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Feng obtained his PhD from the State University of New York at Buffalo and completed postdoctoral training at Washington University in St. Louis. Before joining MIT, he was a faculty member in the Department of Neurobiology at Duke University School of Medicine.
