Dr. Gus De Franco

Biography

Gus De Franco is the Emanuel T. Weiler Professor at Purdue University's Daniels School of Business, recognized for his numerous publications in leading accounting journals such as the Journal of Accounting & Economics and the Journal of Accounting Research. He serves as a term editor for Contemporary Accounting Research and has received awards for his outstanding reviews in the field. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a commitment to teaching and leadership, educating undergraduate and MBA students in financial accounting and managerial accounting. He developed an accounting analytics course for graduate business students and actively mentored PhD candidates. Gus previously held leadership roles at Tulane University's Freeman School of Business, including chairing multiple committees and directing various accounting programs. He embarked on his academic career following successful roles in corporate sectors, including as a product manager at Kraft Foods and an equity research analyst at CIBC Capital Markets. Gus earned his MBA from Harvard University and a PhD from the Wharton School. He also served as a visiting professor at the Wharton School and is committed to exploring the impact of medical marijuana laws on state finances, showcasing his diverse research interests.
