Biography

Gustavo de Veciana is a Professor at the University of Texas at Austin in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, holding the Cockrell Family Chair Engineering #18. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley in 1993. With a strong focus on telecommunications networks, probability random processes, and digital communications, he has taught undergraduate and graduate courses on communication systems and information theory. He received the National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 1996 and has served as an editor for the IEEE/ACM Transactions Networking. In 2000, he was co-recipient of the IEEE/CAS William J. McCalla ICCAD Paper Award and was elevated to IEEE Fellow status in 2009. His research interests are concentrated in Decision, Information, and Communications Engineering (DICE) and he is involved with the Wireless Networking Communications Group (WNCG).
