Biography

Gustavo Mendonca received his DDS in 1999 from the University of Uberlândia School of Dentistry in Brazil. He completed his postgraduate training in Prosthodontics, earning a Master's Degree in Oral Rehabilitation in 2003, and finished his PhD in Genomic Sciences and Biotechnology at the Catholic University of Brasilia, Brazil in 2008. From 2003 to 2007, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at the Catholic University of Brasilia - School of Dentistry while managing an extra-mural private practice. Between 2008 and 2010, he completed post-doctoral research training at the UNC Department of Prosthodontics, where he worked in the Bone and Mineralization Laboratory. Currently, Dr. Mendonca teaches Comprehensive Care VIC Clinics, focusing on fixed and removable prosthodontics in preclinical courses. His research interests encompass the effects of nano- and micro-topography on osteoblast behavior, differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells into osteoblasts, and the molecular basis of dental implants and osseointegration. He is also interested in clinical research related to replacing missing teeth with dental implants and evaluating the longevity of implant treatments and CAD/CAM restorations.
