Biography

Guy David is the Alan B. Miller Professor of Health Care Management at the Wharton School and a professor of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania. He holds a PhD in Business Economics from the University of Chicago and an MA in Economics from Tel Aviv University. His research focuses on the dynamics of mixed-ownership competition in health care markets, the evaluation of policies for nonprofit providers, and the regulation of post-acute care. Additionally, he explores the economics of organization within emergency medical services, the division of labor across the care continuum, and the welfare effects of specialty hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. His work also includes the implications of direct-to-consumer advertising on drug safety. David teaches courses in Health Economics and Health Care Delivery at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including MBA and PhD programs. In 2017, he received the Teaching Commitment and Curricular Innovation Award in recognition of his contributions to improving the educational experience of Wharton students.
