Biography

Guy graduated Bachelor of Dental Surgery from King’s College, London in 1989 and completed Vocational Training in Accrington, North England. He spent two years in general practice in Lancashire before dedicating ten years as a community dentist on the island of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. Guy has served as a tutor at a dental school in Dunedin, New Zealand, holding a senior role in Paediatric Dentistry within NHS Highland, Scotland. He also worked as a senior dentist and tutor for final-year dental student outreach clinics in Inverness and lectured at the University of Highlands and Islands in their dental therapy BSc course while being a VT and CT1 trainer. Guy completed an MSc in Primary Dental Care at the University of Glasgow with distinction and has presented his research at the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry conference in Glasgow, resulting in a published paper in the Primary Dental Journal in 2015. Currently, he splits his time between NHS Highland as an Assistant Clinical Dental Director and as a tutor for BSc/MSc Oral Health Science (dental therapy). Guy holds a Diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies from the University of Bristol and a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education from the University of the Highlands and Islands, with a strong interest in developing critical reflective practitioner skills within dental teams.
