Biography

Gwen Bradford studies value theory and normative ethics, with a particular focus on ill-being, which is conceptualized as the opposite of well-being. She also explores perfectionism and its implications in these domains. Bradford earned her PhD in Philosophy from Yale University and holds a BA in Philosophy from the University of Toronto. Prior to her current role as Associate Professor at the University of Toronto, she was a Faculty Fellow at the Murphy Institute at Tulane University. In addition to her academic contributions, she authored the book 'Achievement', published by Oxford University Press in 2015, which examines the nature and value of achievement and was awarded the APA Book Prize in 2017. Her research encompasses Ethics, Philosophy of Art, and Value Theory.
