Biography

Dirk van den Ende is a Guest Associate Professor at the University of Twente, specializing in the field of experimental physics with a particular focus on rheology and soft matter physics. He completed his training in experimental physics at the University of Nijmegen, graduating in 1982 with a thesis on reactive scattering of state selective molecular beams. Following his graduation, he engaged in research at Océ van der Grinten in Venlo before joining the University of Twente in 1987. His research interests include the chemistry of surface interactions, atomic force microscopy, and the physics of liquids, with expertise in complex fluids and interactions at the liquid-solid interface. He plays an active role within the PCF group in the Faculty of Science and Engineering and has made significant contributions to the understanding of wetting and surface charge phenomena in various materials.
