Biography

Hadi Mohammadi received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (solid mechanics) with honors and his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Biomechanics) from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. He then completed his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering specializing in cardiovascular engineering and biomaterials at Western University, Canada. Following graduation, Mohammadi held postdoctoral fellowships focusing on connective tissues mechanobiology at the University of Calgary and mechanics of atherosclerotic plaque stability at Harvard Medical School. He established the Heart Valve Performance Laboratory (HVPL) at UBC’s Okanagan Campus in 2013, leading innovations in the design and development of next-generation prosthetic heart valves and collaborating closely with cardiologists and surgeons. Over the past 10 years, he has been heavily involved in the design and development of medical device technology, and he is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers in both Alberta and British Columbia.
