Biography

Hadi T. Nia, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at Boston University in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. He completed his doctoral studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2013, where he was supervised by Drs. Alan Grodzinsky and Christine Ortiz. Following his PhD, he underwent postdoctoral training at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a Ruth L. Kirschstein Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, under the supervision of Dr. Rakesh Jain. His research focuses on merging engineering principles with molecular biology and oncology to tackle significant questions in cancer research. Dr. Nia aims to discover vulnerabilities in cancer cells and propose novel treatment strategies. His interests include studying the effects of abnormal physical microenvironments on tumor development and progression, and he leads the Nia Laboratory, which engages in various funded research projects related to mechanobiology and lung function.
