Biography

Haeok Lee is a Professor at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing and an experienced nurse behavioral scientist. She has extensive clinical research experience focusing on populations affected by health disparities, particularly addressing health inequity issues within immigrant populations. Her primary research utilizes community-based participatory research to develop culturally and socially context-specific storytelling videos that encourage health behavior changes, especially among immigrant African populations. Lee has initiated cancer research projects based on her Fulbright Scholarship in Africa and has successfully completed grants, including a pilot randomized control trial to promote cervical cancer screening for Malawian women living with HIV. Currently, she serves as the site Principal Investigator for the Asian Cohort Alzheimer’s Disease project, working with a focus on Korean American subpopulations and collecting important health data from older Asian adults in the U.S. and Canada.
