Hai Jiang received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electronics engineering from Peking University, Beijing, China, in 1995 and 1998, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree (with Outstanding Achievement Graduate Studies Award) in electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, in 2006. He became a faculty member at the University of Alberta in July 2007 and is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Dr. Jiang has received several accolades including the Alberta Ingenuity New Faculty Award in 2008, and the Paper Award at the IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM) in 2008, as well as the Faculty of Engineering Research Award from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta in 2015. His research primarily focuses on wireless communications and networking, with specific areas of interest including radio resource management, cognitive radio networking, and cooperative communications. He is currently involved in research pertaining to non-orthogonal multiple access, energy harvesting-based wireless communications, and millimeter-wave communications.
