Biography

Dr. Hai Van Nguyen is a health economist and a Professor at the School of Pharmacy, Memorial University of Newfoundland. He has served as a Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) and was appointed to his current position in September 2016. Dr. Nguyen has previously held roles as an Assistant Professor in the Health Services Systems Research Program at Duke NUS Medical School and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto. He earned his PhD in Economics, specializing in Health Economics from Concordia University in 2009, following a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Cambridge. He is actively involved in policy consultancy and research supported by the Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) Award and the CIHR New Investigator Grant. Dr. Nguyen serves on the Editorial Board of Respirology, the official journal of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology. His main research interests focus on policy evaluation, health behaviors, and economic evaluation, while his teaching interests include health econometrics and health economics.
