Dr. Hai Zhang

Biography

Hai Feng Zhang is an Associate Research Scientist at Yale University specializing in the study of heart vascular diseases related to inflammation. His research interests focus on understanding excessive and chronic inflammatory responses, particularly the role of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) in increasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) which contribute to atherosclerosis. Zhang's work investigates how vascular endothelial cells (EC) limit inflammatory processes and the dysfunction induced by inflammatory mediators. His experiments are designed to dissect the signaling pathways involved in inflammatory responses, highlighting the essential function of AIP1 in TNF signaling pathways through interactions with ASK1, TRAF2, and RIP1. His extensive training includes a PhD from the National University of Singapore, a Master’s, and a Bachelor’s degree from China Agriculture University in the fields of Biochemistry Physiology and Endocrinology, respectively.
