Dr. Haifeng Xu

Biography

Haifeng Xu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Chicago, where he directs the Strategic Intelligence for Machine Agents (SIGMA) lab. His research focuses on the economics of data and machine learning, particularly in designing learning algorithms for multi-agent decision-making and market structures. He has published extensively in leading conferences on machine learning and computational economics, serving as an area chair and senior program committee member for premier venues such as ICML, EC, AAAI, and IJCAI. His research has received recognition through multiple awards, including the AI2050 Early Career Fellow award and the Google Faculty Research Award. His lab develops cutting-edge techniques for decision-making in uncertain and complex strategic environments. Through his work, Xu explores critical themes such as information asymmetry, incentive conflicts, and the mathematical foundations of algorithms.
