Dr. Haihao Lu

Biography

Haihao Ross Lu is an Associate Professor in the School of Accounting and Finance at the University of Waterloo. He holds a PhD and a Master of Finance from the University of Toronto, an MBA from Wake Forest University, and a BA from Xiamen University. His research focuses on Financial Accounting, exploring topics such as related-party transactions, corporate governance disclosure, director compensation, and managerial ability in relation to bank loan pricing. He has published in prominent journals including Accounting Review and Review of Accounting Studies. Lu has also received several research grants, including the SSHRC Insight Development Grant and the CPA Canada–CAAA Financial Accounting, Assurance & Tax Research Grant, highlighting his contributions to empirical and archival research in the field. He is dedicated to advancing knowledge in financial accounting through rigorous research and scholarly activities.
