Biography

Haike Antelmann is a Professor of Molecular Microbiology at the Institute of Biology, Freie Universität Berlin. He completed his studies in Biopharmacology at Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-University of Greifswald from 1988 to 1993, followed by a Ph.D. in Microbiology in 1998. Antelmann has an extensive background in microbiology, particularly in oxidative stress physiology in bacteria. He has held postdoctoral roles and has been a group leader, focusing on the molecular mechanisms and regulatory pathways involved in bacterial responses to oxidative stress. His research interests include the roles of thiol-modifications in Gram-positive bacteria, studying the impact of redox regulation on pathogen virulence. Antelmann is known for his contributions to proteomics and has received numerous awards, including the ERC Consolidator Grant and recognition as a member of AcademiaNet. He serves on editorial boards for various microbiology journals and actively contributes to understanding the physiological roles of redox-sensing regulators in bacteria.
