Biography

Haitham Salem graduated from Cairo University, earning both M.D. and M.Sc. degrees in surgical sciences. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the University of Lübeck in Germany, where he studied the mechanisms of neuroplasticity and cellular regeneration. Dr. Salem completed his psychiatry residency in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center/McGovern School of Medicine in Houston. During his final year of residency training, he served as chief resident on the research track, where he developed a comprehensive didactics curriculum for psychiatry residents. He enjoys teaching medical students and psychiatry residents at Brown University during core rotations and didactics. His clinical interests include mood disorders and psychopharmacology, while his research interests focus on cognitive neuroscience, neurophysiology, neuroimaging, and the applications of artificial intelligence in psychiatry.
