Biography

Haiyan Zhang is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of California, San Diego. Zhang received a Bachelor of Medicine from Luzhou Medical College in Sichuan, China, in June 1997, followed by a Master’s degree in Nephrology from West China University of Medical Sciences in June 2000. Furthering his education, he completed his Ph.D. in June 2003 and participated in residency training in Anatomic Clinical Pathology at LAC+USC Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, which he completed in June 2016. Dr. Zhang further honed his expertise through fellowships in Surgical Pathology and Renal Pathology at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, respectively, completed in 2017 and 2018. His research interests cover various concepts, including lipid metabolism disorders, lipoxygenase inhibitors, and PPAR alpha hypolipidemic agents. He is actively engaged in clinical trials at UC San Diego and has a notable history of contributions to scientific publications and patents.
