Biography

Håkan Möller is a Professor of Comparative Literature at the University of Gothenburg, where he has served since 2011. His academic background includes doctorates in Divinity and Philosophy from Uppsala University. Möller became an approved Docent (Associate Professor) in Literature at Uppsala University in 2003, and in Scandinavian Literature at the University of Helsinki in 2004. He has been a Visiting Scholar at the Faculty of Divinity in Cambridge during the academic year 1996/97. His early studies were interdisciplinary, focusing on Literature and Religion from the seventeenth to the early nineteenth century. Möller's doctoral dissertation explored the hymnography of Johan Olof Wallin, and his literary dissertation examined Wallin's poetry and its significance. He has published extensively, including notable works on the Nobel Prize-winning author Pär Lagerkvist. Currently, he is writing a book that critiques the wider context of Sweden's 1695 hymn book, addressing themes of luxury, ideology, royal power, and anti-Catholicism in a new aesthetic sensibility.
