Biography

Halit Pinar, MD, is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Brown University. Dr. Pinar is known for his role as a Principal Investigator in the Stillbirth Collaborative Research Network, a project funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) aimed at understanding the epidemiology and etiology of stillbirths. He has served in leadership roles within various professional societies, including past President of the Rhode Island Society of Pathologists and has been involved with the American Academy of Pediatrics and the College of American Pathologists. His research primarily focuses on placental pathology, maternal health, and the implications of perinatal outcomes, contributing to numerous publications in high-impact journals. Dr. Pinar’s commitment to education is reflected in multiple teaching awards acknowledging his excellence in training residents and medical students at Brown Medical School.
