Biography

Hamid Roshan graduated with a PhD in Petroleum Geomechanics from the School of Petroleum Engineering at UNSW Sydney in 2012. After completing 3.5 years of postdoctoral training in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, he joined the School of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering at UNSW in 2016. Prior to his PhD, Hamid worked at an Underground Gas Storage Company, gaining invaluable industry experience in state-of-the-art technologies and successful gas storage projects. Currently, Dr. Roshan leads a team focused on multiphysics geomechanics and rock characterization, involving theoretical, numerical, and experimental developments applicable to Mining, Civil, and Petroleum Engineering. His team has developed patented field-scale downhole logging tools and a software solution for stress and mechanical property measurements in the mining industry. In addition, he is developing advanced multiphysics laboratory capabilities at the GeoEngineering Research Lab at UNSW, providing state-of-the-art academic and technical services to the Mining, Civil, and Petroleum sectors.
