Hamid Vali Pour Goudarzi is a Professor at the University of New South Wales in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He earned his PhD in 2009, and has degrees in Master of Engineering Science from Tehran University and Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Tehran Polytechnic. His research focuses on the behavior of structures made from steel, concrete, and timber, with a particular interest in developing innovative hybrid structures that leverage the advantages of these materials. Professor Goudarzi is engaged in developing efficient one-dimensional frame finite element models that capture material and geometrical nonlinearities in frames subjected to extreme loading scenarios, including blasts and earthquakes. Additionally, he is interested in constitutive modeling for concrete and timber and aims to develop structural systems that lower energy consumption and carbon footprint while being easy to fabricate and dismantle. He teaches various courses including Reinforced Concrete Design and Bridge Design and mentors numerous PhD students in structural behavior of hybrid connections and reliability-based design.
