Biography

Han-Ru Zhou is an Associate Professor of Public Law at Université de Montréal and an Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies in London. He has also been a visiting professor at the University of Ottawa and a visiting scholar at the uOttawa Public Law Centre. Zhou has held research fellowships at the University of California, Berkeley, and McGill University. His work has appeared in prestigious journals such as the Law Quarterly Review, International Journal of Constitutional Law, and the American Journal of Comparative Law. He is the author of 'Constitutional Law: Fundamental Principles – Notes Cases'. His research has been supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, the Quebec Research Fund, and the Chambre des notaires du Québec. In 2006-2007, Zhou served as a law clerk for Justice Marie Deschamps at the Supreme Court of Canada. He is a member of the Quebec Bar and has practiced as a corporate lawyer. Zhou has received legal education from Université de Montréal, Harvard University, and the University of Oxford. He teaches and researches in the areas of constitutional law and human rights law, and has previously served as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Review of Constitutional Studies. Additionally, he was the President of the Harvard Club of Quebec from 2018 to 2020.
