Dr. Hanan Hibshi

Biography

Hanan Hibshi is an Assistant Teaching Professor at the Information Networking Institute of Carnegie Mellon University. He received his Ph.D. in Societal Computing from Carnegie Mellon University, following a Master’s degree in Information Security Technology Management from the same institution. His early research attracted attention through international collaborations, particularly focusing on the intersection of security requirements and risk assessment in data-driven intelligent systems using fuzzy logic. Prior to his academic career, Hibshi gained professional experience in the banking industry. His research interests include studying security expertise and developing intelligent tools that accommodate user needs. Hanan has contributed to various cybersecurity initiatives and has been quoted in media regarding cybersecurity issues, highlighting the role of artificial intelligence in this field. His work is pivotal in educating future cybersecurity professionals, particularly through initiatives like picoCTF, a capture-the-flag competition promoting engagement in cybersecurity education among students.
