Biography

Hande Burcu Deniz is a PhD student in Design Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees in Interior Architecture and Environmental Design from Bilkent University, Turkey. Her research interests focus on the relationship between environment and behavior, specifically investigating place attachment and territoriality in design studios. Deniz has presented her works at the EDRA International Conference on Environmental Psychology, where she received the 'Best Presentation Award' from the Program Committee of ICEP. Her main goal is to combine design principles with research to create built environments that enhance the experiences of people. In her teaching and professional experiences, she has taught various courses on how humans are affected by their surroundings, including technical drawing, lighting, and color application courses at the University of Minnesota, as well as architectural drawing and color theory applications at Bilkent University.
