Biography

Hangyuan joined Adam Smith Business School in 2023 as a Lecturer in Accounting. He received his PhD in Accounting from New York University Stern School of Business and holds a BBA, MSc, and MPhil from Lingnan University in Hong Kong. Dr. Shi's research interests broadly focus on the mechanisms and forces that shape the information environment in capital markets. His recent research works delve into how information intermediaries acquire, process, and disseminate information within capital markets, along with the economic consequences that stem from financial reporting and disclosure regulations. As a member of the School's research cluster, he specializes in financial reporting, mandatory and voluntary disclosure, capital markets, information intermediaries, behavioral economics, and corporate governance. Dr. Shi is also keen on supervising students who work in areas related to capital market research and financial reporting corporate disclosure regulation, and he teaches courses on financial accounting, financial statement analysis, and managerial accounting.
