Biography

Hani Mitri is a Professor in the Mining Engineering department at McGill University with over 30 years of teaching and research experience. He is the founder of the McGill Design Laboratory, established in 1988, and has contributed significantly to the fields of mineral resource engineering, specializing in underground mining, rock engineering, and ground control. Mitri has published over 200 papers in scientific journals and conference proceedings and has supervised the completion of more than 60 Master's and PhD students. His roles also include serving as a Co-Editor for the International Journal of Mining Science and Technology, as well as involvement in various editorial boards. He is a licensed professional engineer in Quebec, Canada since 1987 and has significant leadership experience through various administrative positions. His research interests encompass Rock Engineering, Numerical Modelling, Design, Rock breakage, explosives, Mining-induced seismicity, and Underground prefeasibility studies. Mitri is dedicated to promoting Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion within his field.
