Dr. Hanna Rehnberg

Biography

Hanna Sofia Rehnberg is an Associate Professor at Uppsala University, focusing on the intersection of language and contemporary society. Her research interests encompass narrativity and storytelling, communication within the asylum process, media discourses, and organizational communication, particularly within the public sector. She employs linguistic ethnography, text analysis, and discourse analysis as key methods in her research. Rehnberg began her academic career in 2014, receiving her PhD in Scandinavian Languages from Uppsala University, where she focused on organizational storytelling. Before joining Uppsala University, she worked as a senior lecturer in Swedish at Södertörn University from 2015 to 2022. Her interdisciplinary approach combines various theoretical and methodological frameworks, including social semiotics and narratology. Her notable projects include the 'Asylum Narratives' research initiative, which examines the narratives of asylum seekers and the roles of various actors in asylum interviews. Additionally, she has conducted comparative studies in the school sector and worked on modern organizational communication with the Swedish Transport Administration. Rehnberg's work contributes significantly to understanding communication dynamics in public organizations, integrating journalistic methods to enhance citizen engagement.
