Biography

Hannah Aeterna Borne is a PhD candidate at the Berlin Graduate School Global Transregional Studies, part of the Cluster of Excellence “Contestations of the Liberal Script” (SCRIPTS). She has a Master’s degree in International Relations from Freie Universität Berlin and a Bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg. Her research interests focus on international security, surveillance technologies, international politics, human rights, digital rights, and critical international relations theory. Her doctoral project analyzes the use of satellite surveillance technology in international conflict. Prior to her doctoral studies, Borne held positions as a student research tutor with a focus on international security policy and surveillance. She has also completed internships with think tanks and human rights NGOs in Salt Lake City and Vienna, and worked with a Berlin-based European think tank focusing on digital rights, surveillance, and democracy.
