Biography

Hannah Carrese is a Climenko Fellow at Harvard Law School, focusing on legal history and property law, especially common public land, with implications on present and future legislation regarding land, water, and species protection. Her research examines themes pertinent to the western United States, England, and Chile, contributing to scholarly discussions on property rights. One of her current projects critiques John Locke's theory of property by exploring the dismissal of common rights in 17th-century common law, while also addressing Hannah Arendt's concept of political homelessness. Hannah earned her MPhil in political theory from Oxford and holds undergraduate law degrees from Yale. She has also clerked for Judge Harris L. Hartz of the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
