I am a social and cultural anthropologist particularly interested in infrastructure and social movements from the perspectives of political ecology, feminism, and decolonial theories. Since my master's in Latin American studies at the University of Bern, I have been focused on hydropower production in Ecuador and Latin America in general. As of July 2024, I am working as a doctoral student on the research project 'Maintaining Relations: Community-owned Hydropower Infrastructure Time' under the supervision of Professor Agnieszka Joniak-Lüthi. This project is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). Our goal is to contribute to research on achieving a democratic and just energy transition by exploring the experiences of communities in the Alps and Latin America that have been producing their own electricity through small hydropower plants for decades. We investigate how necessary knowledge is transmitted and who acquires potentially new skills. I will conduct research on these questions in Latin America.
