Biography

Hannah Schling is a critical Economic Geographer specializing in Feminist Political Economy and Labour Geographies, with expertise in uneven geographies of labour migration and logistics-driven capitalism. Her research focuses on the conditions of workers' social reproduction in Central Eastern Europe (CEE). Schling's work has examined the emerging labour migration regimes in the Czech Republic, particularly analyzing worker dormitories and the role of temporary work agencies in shaping spatio-temporalities of contingent employment and cross-border labour markets. She has contributed valuable insights into the everyday life aspects of the country's export-oriented electronics manufacturing sector. Hannah holds a PhD in Human Geography from King's College London, which she completed in 2019. Before her current lecturer position at University College London, she worked as a lecturer in Geography at Queen Mary University of London and held an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Glasgow, where she specialized in the Human Geographies of Work and the Economy from 2021 to 2023.
