Hannah Smith earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology & Molecular Genetics from Emory University, where she focused on antibiotic resistance in Gram-negative bacteria. Following her doctoral studies, she completed postdoctoral research as an NIH IRACDA Fellow at Emory University, investigating the structural basis of ribosome stalling in clinically significant bacterial pathogens. In summer 2024, she joined the faculty at Georgia Tech. Currently, Hannah teaches Principles of Biology (BIOS 1107) and Integrative Genetics Lab (BIOS 2611), and she is involved in a variety of courses including Genetics (BIOS 2600), Microbiology (BIOS 3380), and Cell Molecular Biology (BIOS 3450).
