Dr. Hannah Tessler

Biography

Hannah Tessler is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Michigan, focusing on the interplay of gender, sexuality, race/ethnicity, and various dimensions of inequality. She utilizes both quantitative and qualitative research methods to investigate traditional markers of the transition to adulthood, pathways through higher education, and the formation of families through union. Hannah has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals that are based on her research findings. Her current work highlights how gender and sexuality influence intimate relationships, marriage, and the construction of nuclear family units. Her research efforts have been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation and the American Sociological Association for her doctoral dissertation research.
