Biography

Hannah Chapelle Wojciehowski is the Arthur J. Thaman Wilhelmina Doré Thaman Professor of English at the University of Texas at Austin, where she also directs the Comparative Literature Program. She obtained her Ph.D. from Yale University in 1984 and specializes in interdisciplinary Renaissance Studies. Her research interests include history, subjectivity, group identity formation, and globalization. In her book, 'Group Identity in the Renaissance World,' Wojciehowski explores group subjectivity through psychoanalytic theories and social network theory. Her current work delves into life writings from Michel Foucault and the implications of power and knowledge on group identity in the early modern and post-modern contexts. She has also edited an edition of Shakespeare's 'Cymbeline' published in 2015. Her broad research interests encompass early modern women's writing, the intersection of science and literature, and the evolution of literary criticism and theory.
